5 elementary schools receive library kits
Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Five public elementary schools in Cebu City now have additional books for them to use as reference or leisure reading material.

The schools—Guadalupe Elementary School, Guba Elementary School, Mabolo Elementary School, all in Cebu City; Opao Elementary School in Mandaue City; and Tayud Elementary School in Liloan—received the library kit, which contains books placed in cabinets, last March 20, 2012.

Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. President Jon Ramon Aboitiz and Managing Trustee Sonny Carpio turned over the library kits to education officials led by the division superintendents and principals of the recipient schools.

“Teach the young minds,” Aboitiz said during the turnover. He also urged the principals to encourage their students to read and to fully utilize the books.

The Foundation, Inc (Foundation) gives out supplies and equipment to its partner schools to complement its initiatives to help improve the quality of education in the country and to encourage students to take on reading as a habit.

Aside from the books, the five schools were among the public schools that were given two-classroom preschool buildings by the Foundation under its partnership with the Aklat, Gabay, Aruga Tungo sa Pag-Angat at Pag-Asa (AGAPP) Foundation.

A total of 98 library kits have since been donated to beneficiary schools in areas where Aboitiz Group companies operate.
